Ann Hucke (nee Bennett)

November 1.1940-December 20.2024

It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the news of the passing of an exceptional woman, Ann Hucke, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend to many.

Ann passed peacefully surrounded by her children on December 20.2024 after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Loving mother of Michelle (Paul), Geoffrey (Kelley) and Tamatha (Clark), grandmother and great-grandmother to Cara, Tasha, Keenen, Jordyn, Brie, Cloe, Makai, Willow, Wyatt, Sadie, Phoebe and Delias. Predeceased by her dear husband Erich, she was also stepmother to Silvina (Brandon, Domenique) and Birgit (Thomas, Zachary, Alannah, Mac). Big sister to Roger (Liz), Yvonne, Margarita, and Roberta as well as Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Ann came to Canada from England as a child, leaving behind her brother and sisters for an adventure all her own. While her life was not easy, it was never boring, and she always made the best of whatever situation she found herself in. In the 1960’s Ann, a stunning woman, had a successful modelling career and eventually settled into life as a medical secretary as her children grew older, living first in Toronto and then moving to Alliston once she married the love of her life Erich.

In her later years Ann moved to London, ON and made many friends in her apartment building where she enjoyed a whole new chapter.

Ann was a woman of many talents, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, painting, baking, gardening and was a life-long learner. She loved discovering new technologies and was also in the know about the latest and greatest pop culture happenings. Ann was very sociable; loved going out with her friends from all walks of life and of all ages. She had studied the Bahai teachings and enjoyed deep philosophical discussions on faith and other’s beliefs. Ann loved life; she was quick to laughter with a wonderful sense of humour. She was a great example of strength in the face of adversity, never afraid to stand up for herself, she taught us some of our greatest lessons.

And above all else, she loved her family.

It is because she had such a larger-than-life personality that it is hard to believe that she is really gone. While she will be sorely missed, we are so grateful for the gifts that have been given, and we know that her spirit is ever with us, never forgotten, always loved, carried deeply within each of us. . . what a privilege it has been.

If desired, donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice in London can be made in Ann’s honour. The family is so thankful for the wonderful care that Dr. Natalie Hertzman and the team there provided her with in the last days of her life.

Messages and condolences may be left at www.forestcitycrematon.com. Please visit Ann’s obituary notice on Facebook.
