(Janet) Muriel Stucke

(Janet) Muriel Stucke, in her 97th year and resident of Richmond Woods retirement home passed away quietly in the early hours of Monday November 20th in her room. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Helmut Herbert Stucke in December of 2020.  Muriel is survived by her son David (Susan), her daughter Krista (Barry) and her four beloved grandchildren, Megan, Kyle, Molly, and Charlie.

Muriel was born on July 7, 1927, in East Calder, Scotland. She lived there with her 3 sisters, Betty, Maisy, and Joan, until she immigrated to Canada. London has been her home ever since. Muriel was active in her youth. She was passionate in her love of curling both as a player and a spectator. Muriel loved bowling, and she enjoyed riding her bicycle around town. Her greatest joys were spending time with friends and family. Dancing at the German and Scottish clubs with Helmut was a favourite activity for Muriel as well as spending Sundays at the beach. Muriel enjoyed travelling with Helmut and would embark on regular trips to Victoria B.C, and Scotland where she loved meeting up with friends and family for lunch and outings. Muriel welcomed her closest friends and family into her home at any time. She especially loved celebrating birthdays and Christmas surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She delighted in family get togethers where delicious food was plentiful, cake and ice cream were a must and laughter, and stories filled the room.

Muriel will be remembered for her involvement in her grandchildren’s lives: visiting Megan and Kyle in Bradford, cheering Molly on as she played soccer at the BMO Centre, and freezing in the cold at Argyle Arena to root Charlie on in hockey. Muriel did not miss a Christmas concert, school play or graduation. Her grandchildren will always cherish her interest, love and involvement in their lives.

Thanks to the all the staff at Richmond Woods for their support and friendship for Muriel during her time as a resident. Special thanks to Karon and her team of nurses, and PSWs for the kindness, compassion, patience, and extra care that they provided to Muriel in her last months at Richmond Woods.

Muriel wished to be cremated, followed by a small immediate family member gathering to honour her life.
